AI readiness and governance assessment

Know what your team is actually doing with AI (before it costs you)

Somebody in your business is already using ChatGPT. Possibly for something harmless, like drafting an email. Possibly for something less worse, like pasting in a client contract to “summarise it quickly.” You don’t know which, and that’s the problem.

the “shadow AI” problem nobody’s talking about

AI moved into your business uninvited, and now it’s just… living there. Staff are using it on their phones, their personal logins, their own initiative, usually with good intentions and zero oversight. No policy, no idea what data’s going where, no plan for what happens when it goes wrong.

That’s shadow AI. Every business has one lurking in the walls: an ancient, mostly harmless presence that’s been quietly rearranging the furniture for years and nobody’s quite sure how it got in.

For SMB’s especially, it’s a real problem hiding behind a genuinely useful tool. You don’t have a compliance team to catch it. You don’t have an IT department big enough to stake it out. What you have is exposure, and no familiar sitting in the corner keeping an eye on how much of it there is.

We’re not here to tell you AI is a monster and you should grab the garlic. We’re here to tell you what’s actually going on in your basement, and what to do about it.

what the assessment actually does

This isn’t a generic “AI transformation” workshop, and it isn’t a sales pitch dressed up as advice. It’s a structured look at exactly where your business stands today, covering:

  • what your team is already using AI for, officially or otherwise
  • what data is at risk, and where it’s ending up
  • what governance (if any) currently exists
  • why AI is on the agenda for you right now
  • where the genuine opportunities are, once the risk is under control

You’ll get a proper scorecard across five key areas of readiness, in plain English, not a stack of jargon designed to make us sound clever. Then a report you can actually act on, with a clear view of what to fix first and what can wait.

why bother?

Right now you don’t know what you don’t know. And “we’ll deal with it if something goes wrong” is not a governance strategy, it’s a hope.

A couple of hours with us gets you a clear, honest picture of your exposure, in language that makes sense to you rather than to a lawyer.

Some businesses come out of this and tighten up a few policies. Others realise they’ve got real opportunities to use AI properly and safely, once the risk is understood. Either way, you’ll know. That’s worth having on its own.

how it works

Fixed fee, no surprises, and no hourly clock ticking while we figure out what to write.

1.

We ask the awkward questions. A structured conversation about how AI is actually being used across your business today, not how the org chart says it should be used.

2.

We score it. Five categories, rated honestly, so you can see at a glance where you’re solid and where you’re exposed.

3.

We hand you the report, and the next steps. A clear summary of where you stand, what matters most, and what to do about it, plus time to talk it through properly.

“Siarp undertook a few things for me including a security upgrade and even though I am a small company, I was delighted at the way Siarp looked after me explaining what he was installing etc. Not being a techie type person I felt at ease with the professionalism and friendly manner. With the addition of a quick response and good value I would have no qualms recommending Siarp.”
